Broccolini looks, tastes and cooks up as easily as broccoli, so what makes it so special that it needs to have it’s own vegetable classification, you ask?
Well, if you like broccoli, you’ll like broccolini! This vegetable is a part of the cruciferous family of vegetables and is known around the globe as “tenderstem broccoli”.
It’s actually a hybrid that brings together the genetics of two of my favorite green veggies, broccoli and kale. It is commonly mistaken for “baby broccoli” and was developed in Japan in 1993.
Broccolini is full of fiber, vitamin C, potassium and iron…would you eat this hybrid?
